Nutrition

First of all, before we get on with the topic at hand (nutrition), we would first like to point out the following:

a) This section is NOT intended to give you a detailed nutrition plan that you should stick to.
b) It will NOT tell you to consume this many calories or eat that certain food.

We say that from the outset because nutritional planning is very much oriented to the individual's goals and personal situation. Therefore, detailed plans should be done under the consultation of your doctor or nutritionist since key factors such as your current state of health, allergies, likes and dislikes must be factored in. However, throughout this section there are some time-proven tips which we will examine to help you on the road of peak performance.

Of course, exercise is important to overall fitness and perfomance, however, one's nutrition intake is often overlooked. Before you, or anyone for that matter jumps head first into developing a nutrition plan, you must first ask yourself some key questions. What is it you would like your nutrition plan to accomplish for you? Be as specific as possible. Don't just say "I want to be stronger so I can compete at a higher level". Continue to add to the question by asking yourself or your training advisor how you can accomplish that. Is putting on muscle involved? Losing fat? Becoming lighter? Gaining weight?
